According to the Barna Group, 46% of pastors under the age of 45 say they are considering quitting full-time ministry compared to 34 percent of pastors 45 and older. Only One in Three Pastors Is Considered “Healthy” in Terms of Well-Being.

 

As a pastor, I know how tough ministry can be and realize that ministry can be one of the loneliest places. A Lifeway Study showed that most pastors point to stress as a mental challenge they are facing in ministry (63%). Nearly half of pastors say discouragement (48%) and distraction (48%) are ministry mental challenges, while less than one-third of pastors point to loneliness or lack of friendship (28%), depression (18%) or lack of contentment (17%).
